Paul Cabannes is French, has lived in Brazil since 2015 and became known on social media for commenting on the country’s customs through a foreigner’s eyes. The book gathers these observations in cartoons interspersed with a few short essays, from bar-table conversations to the small differences between the two cultures.
Laika designed the cover and the interior. The colours tell the story: blue, shared by both flags, bridges Brazil and France, while green is our Brazil, no translation needed. On the cover, the author’s portrait shares the space with some of his cartoons, which play on the duel between the pingado (milky coffee in a copo americano, the classic Brazilian bakery glass) and coffee served in an elegant cup. Inside, the layout sets the rhythm between cartoons and essays and gives every joke room to breathe.
